Everyone’s favourite mid-field underdog team has taken the wraps off its 2022 contender. Say hello to the Scuderia AlphaTauri AT03.
The AlphaTauri F1 car continues to stick with the same colour theme as the previous two cars: a mix of white and navy blue denim. The new livery looks better than that of the AT02. Sadly, the aero discs are not white which they should have been, at least in some capacity. In terms of the vehicle design, it features a distinctive approach for the sidepods with deep undercuts below the smaller and boxier apertures. The reveal-spec racecar has some understandable similarities with the Red Bull RB18 but there are plenty of differences as well.

The AT03 will likely follow a similar philosophy of a shorter and nimbler racecar than the Mercedes-powered teams. It will be the only other team to feature a power unit that is not directly backed by a conventional vehicle manufacturer, the same as the one in the RB18. Hopefully, the package will offer the performance the team needs to progress in the sport.

There have been no changes to the core players of the team with Franz Tost as team principal, and Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda in the driving seat. The duo helped the team score its best-ever points haul in 2021 and finish sixth in the constructor’s standings. With additional experience and the new cars, AlphaTauri looks set to be a thorn in the sides of Alpine, Aston Martin and McLaren in 2022. The likely expectations from Tsunoda would be consistent top 10 results and more podiums from Gasly.
What do you make of the AlphaTauri AT03? Does it look better than the AT01? Do you expect to see Gasly winning a race in 2022? Share your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget to subscribe to the Auto Loons for more F1 updates and news about cool cars.
