Alfa Romeo is the third one to reveal its 2021 contender, the C41. It kept the red and white colour scheme of recent years but the new livery is like a mirrored version of the previous one and worse for it.
Even if the C41 is not as pretty as the C39, it better be quicker than it. Alfa is one of the few teams that has retained its lineup in terms of drivers and leadership for the third year in a row. It will be Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi on the grid with Frederic Vasseur taking charge in the paddock. Robert Kubica stays on as the team’s reserve driver with Tatiana Calderon as the development driver. This kind of stability tends to yield good results for the team’s overall performance and development.
In 2020, Ferrari’s underperforming engine saw Alfa Romeo often going head to head against the factory team, both outside of the points. Hopefully, there has been enough progress made for the 2021 season that will allow Alfa Romeo to be a regular contender in the point-scoring midfield battles and bring it closer to 7th in the constructor’s standings.
