Sony recently unveiled the new PlayStation 5 in its entirety with some of the new video games that will offered at launch. As expected, one of the launch titles for the PS5 is the new Gran Turismo 7. Check out the trailer video below:

The newest entrant to the Gran Turismo racing simulator series marks a return to the usual version of the game reintroducing the GT Mode career option. The current Gran Turismo Sport is a great game, especially for getting familiar with the sim-racing scene but it lacked the arcade fun that made the GT series so successful. It brings back a high level of car customisation/improvement with part upgrades and a host of added activities in-game.

Since I’ve not played any GT game before GT Sport, I had to watch some experts to realise that the track footage shown in the trailer is from the fictional circuit Trial Mountain which has been part of the series from the start. The graphics look phenomenal of course while the trailer also hints at adding dynamic time of day for longer races.

I did recognize some of the cool cars from the trailer like the Porsche 917K Le Mans racecar, the BAC Mono, Porsche Carrera GT and even a Porsche GT1 car. Some of the animations were familiar from GT Sport along with Gr.3 racecars including the new Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept that I recently reviewed (video below).

There isn’t an official release date for the new Sony PS5 or the new Gran Turismo 7 game but expect it to be in stores by the end of the year. I’ll probably get my hands on it in summer 2021, unless Sony decides to send me one for free to review and make GT content.

While there are plenty of memes around the appearance of the PS5, let’s focus more on the game at hand – what do you think of Gran Tursimo 7? What are your expectations from the game? Let me know in the comments below and don’t forget to subscribe to The Auto Loons for more cool updates from the car world.
