The Porsche Panamera is as fast as it is unappealing to look at and the Stuttgart carmaker has now added two extra sporty variants: the Panamera GTS and Panamera GTS Sport Turismo. Both cars get their own unique design elements and extra dynamic chassis systems.
Both are powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 tuned to an output of 460hp and 620Nm of torque which is sent to all four wheels via the 8-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox. The GTS has a top speed of 292kph while the GTS Sport Turismo tops out 289kph and both can accelerate from 0-100kph in 4.1 seconds. The adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology is fitted as standard while the sports chassis has been lowered by 10mm with the Porsche Active Suspension Management being adapted for an even sportier calibration. Both GTS models get stopping power from 390mm brakes up front and 365mm brakes at the rear.
The Sport Design package on these GTS models includes a new black front end, black trim at the bottom-rear and a variety of darker visual elements for that extra sporty look. Porsche fits them with 20-inch wheels as standard while the interior trim is a mix of black Alcantara and aluminium. The optional interior GTS package allows customers to customize various elements like the rev counter, designer seams and GTS logos in contrasting shades of Carmine Red or Crayon. The Panamera GTS and Panamera GTS Sport Turismo also come equipped with the latest tech including the Porsche Advanced Cockpit and a new feature to the sedan range – a head-up display which can be configured by the driver.
Interestingly, this is not the first Panamera GTS as the first one was based on the first-gen Panamera back in 2011. The GTS monicker has graced Porsche cars since 1963 and the Sport Turismo was only added to the Panamera range in 2017, which makes this the first ever Porsche Panamera GTS Sport Turismo.
It is also worth noting that the Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid variant is still the fastest variant of the super sedan. However, the Panamera GTS does look the part of being a luxury sedan with sporty characteristics despite relatively restrained performance figures. What do you think of the new Panamera GTS models?
