Land Rover has brought back the design of the first ever Range Rover, fifty years since they introduced it and changed the segment forever. How? They took the current generation of the ideal luxury, stylish and capable SUV and gave it only two doors and a tapering coupé roofline. The result is the new, limited-edition Range Rover SV Coupé and it is as beautiful as it is expensive.
It’s the handiwork of Land Rover Design and Special Vehicle Operations which will be literally hand-crafted and hand-assembled by SVO for all the 999 lucky clients who can get a slot for one of these. The interior is updated too with the dual screen layout first seen in the new Velar while the trim is taken to a higher level of luxury than standard. Each Range Rover SV Coupé will have a high degree of personalisation to make it as unique as possible, straight from the factory.
This two-door Rangie is also the ‘fastest-ever full-size Range Rover’ with a top speed of 266kph thanks to the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 under that massive hood producing 557bhp and 700Nm of torque. It’s quick too with a 0-100kph time of 5.3 seconds. Land Rover says the suspension has been tuned for more driver-centric edginess while still staying composed and comfy, and the ride height has been lowered by 8mm. It can still do Range Rover things with its all-wheel-drive and all-terrain ability, a wading depth of 900mm and a max towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes.
