Skoda has been a preferred choice of brand for car enthusiasts in the country for some time now, with their offerings including powerful sedans, which were luxurious by Indian standards, but offered a driving experience unlike any other options in that price range.

The handling, the gearbox, the steering and the power delivery too, all of it was simply just a lot of fun and engaging. And, as has been heard and seen, the Skoda Laura and Octavia for tuner friendly to get more power out of the engine, getting rid of limiters and doing some remapping, add some sticky tyres, and you have, a sporty sedan. So, Skoda figured, why not sell it to their customers as they want it, sporty. And so, we have the vRS variants.

And coming in 2017, is the all-new Skoda Octavia vRS, which was originally shown at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and is on sale in Europe for a lil while now, but nevermind all that. The 2.0-litre petrol variant packs 227bhp of power and 350Nm of torque, with a 6-speed manual or an optional 6-speed DSG and the suspension is lowered too. All that is good for a top speed of 250kph and a 0-100kph time of 6.7 seconds. In a family sedan that isn’t German. *excited giggling*

There is a diesel variant as well, the 2.0-litre TDI engine is capable of 181bhp and 380Nm, which will still take it up to 232kph. It does come with an optional 4WD option with a 6-speed DSG, while a 6-speed manual comes as standard. It gets red brake callipers, a tasteful spoiler, and aero-bits that look a bit like a rear diffuser.

The Octavia vRS is expected to get launched in the Indian market, sometime in the second half of 2017, and is probably going to cost around INR 30 lakh. 200bhp for that kinda price in a car that is comfy too? Pretty neat.
