The Autoloons have known about Audi bringing the sweet RS7 Performance to the Indian market for a while now, and now that it has been officially launched with a price tag of INR 1.6 Cr (ex-showroom Delhi), let’s talk a little more about my favorite car in the world right now.

I have never driven an Audi RS7 Sportback, not yet anyway, so all my excitement and love comes from the engine specs and the looks and the noise it makes. The only available version of this four-door speedster, till now, came with a 4.0-litre V8 turbocharged engine that packed 553bhp and 700Nm of torque between 1750-5500 RPM. But somehow, Audi felt that they should give it something more, so they did. They gave it more power. And you can tell me that power isn’t everything, but more power is always good in my books.

The new RS7 Performance has the same 4.0-litre turbo V8 petrol engine but now packs an extra 45bhp, bringing the total count up to 597bhp of power, with an extra 50Nm of torque with something called overboost that gives you a total of 750Nm at your disposal. All this combined with an 8-speed automatic gearbox lets one do 0-100kph in 3.7 seconds and the top speed is now over the magic marker of 300 at 305kph.

Of course, in its size and weight, and lack of track focused appendages may make it difficult to get the most out of all this power, especially on the streets. And if you want a track racer, you would probably look at the better looking R8, which is faster overall and better suited. But that’s why I love the RS7, because it could let me drive at blurring speeds in comfort and without the hassles of a supercar, and with my friends in the cabin and luggage in the boot. Someday, someday…
