The 2016 Paris Auto Show was indeed lacking in the usual number of manufacturers and vehicles but we still got to see some amazing concept cars. Here’s our top 5 pick, purely on the basis of how they made us feel*:

1.Honda Civic Type R Prototype

We’ve already covered this car in depth in another article on the blog which you can check out here. But this beast was definitely a treat for the petrol heads, with all its carbon fibre and glossy black parts with red accents and triple-centre-exit exhaust pipes and a dual wing spoiler. Best part? The production model will reportedly look almost exactly like this, with a significantly powerful engine.

2. Renault Trezor Concept

The Trezor is probably the closest we could have to a real-life Batmobile. Not just the looks, it opens up like one too. The “upper” rises and slides forward to reveal the two seats i the cockpit. The car is powered by an electric motor from a Formula E racer, good for 350hp and 280lb-ft of torque, enough to do 0-62mph in under 4 seconds. We do hope they make enough working models of these just so we may see owners take them out for car shows across the world.

3. Citroen CXPerience Concept

This concept car may very well be the foundation for some of Citroen’s future models and upgrades. This five-door hatchback is about the same size as an ordinary saloon, but lower and wider. It is an impressive sight, with rear suicide doors and futuristic lines and curves with a down-to-earth front grille. The yellow mesh fabric seats on the inside with all the large touch-screen interface on the dash just adds to its futuristic-but-almost-there look. Unsurprisingly, it is a hybrid, with a petrol engine mounted in the front, an electric motor and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

4. Hyundai RN30 Concept

The RN30 Concept is a preview for Hyundai’s soon to be set for production high-performance N model – the i30 N. While the production model will most likely not feature any of the outlandish styling, the RN30 shows just what the Korean manufacturer is capable of. The concept car gets an upgraded 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot which provides 374bhp and 451 Nm of torque to all four wheels, and it sports a racing wet-type dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters. We do hope to see a similar enough racer in competitive races soon enough.

5. Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6

Aptly dubbed to be a modern land-yacht, the Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6 was originally revealed in Monterey. The bright-red giant measures 5.7meters in length and looks exactly what little boys imagine futuristic two-seater luxury coupes should look like. It has all electric powertrain, four electric motors, one for each wheel, that give a total output of 750 bhp. This allows the Vision 6 to do 0-62mph in under 4 seconds, a top speed of 155mph and driving range of 310 miles. And for that lil extra flair, it has a pair of gullwing doors. Nice!
