We saw the new Audi A5 & S5 coupes earlier this year, and now their soft top cabriolet convertible versions have been announced by the German car maker. The cars are expected to debut at the upcoming L.A. Motor Show.
The A5 model that is likely to come to India will get a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will be churning out 252bhp and 273 lb-ft of torque. It will reportedly be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while a 6-speed manual is expected but not confirmed. The lucky Europeans will get five engine variants to pick from, including three TDI diesel engines, with the most powerful one being a 3.0-litre turbo packing 286 bhp.
The performance-oriented S5 cabriolet is reported to come with a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 that will put out 354bhp and 369lb-ft of torque, that should take it from 0-100kph in 5.1 seconds with a claimed top speed of 250kph. It will get Quattro AWD with 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.
The claimed times for the soft tops are 15 seconds to open and 18 seconds to close, at speeds up to 45kph. The Europeans can expect these updated convertibles next year, but the wait will be longer for the Indian market.
