The new Audi A5 Sportback & S5 Sportback are quite similarly designed to the coupe models with minor but impactful improvements to the styling front. They are built upon Volkswagen’s MLB platform which makes it about 190lbs lighter than the outgoing model.

The new A5 Sportback gets the same choice of engines as the coupe, with the entry-level model has 2.0-litre engine putting out 167 bhp and 270Nm of torque. The two additional variants of the same engine offer 187bhp with 320Nm and 248bhp with 370Nm respectively. The most powerful engine of the lot comes in the 2017 S5 Sportback, the 3.0-litre TFSI that delivers a pleasing 348 bhp of power and 500 Nm of torque.

There are 4 diesel variants on offer, both 2.0-litre ones have 187 bhp and 400Nm of torque, and the base 3.0-litre TDI has 214 bhp and 400Nm on tap. The final and most powerful 3.0-litre TDI dishes out an impressive 281 bhp and 620Nm of torque.

FWD and AWD are available depending on the choice of engine which will be paired with either a six-speed manual, a 7-speed dual clutch or an 8-speed automatic. The S5 Sportback will be a good choice for the enthusiasts with that roaring 3.0-litre V6.
